Three-year-old Titan Elson was one of 57 kids who participated in the kiddie pedal tractor pull on Monday afternoon at the Coshocton County Fair in front of the grandstands.

COSHOCTON – The annual kiddie pedal tractor pull was held Monday afternoon at 5 p.m. in front of the grandstands at the Coshocton County Fair. Fifty-seven children signed up to try their luck on the track.

Sylvie and Lane Mullett, ages 7 and 3 respectively, were there with their cousin, Estella Drummond, age 3. Sylvie has competed in kiddie pedal tractor pulls before.

“I’m excited to just pull and I’m hoping to win,” said Sylvie before the pull.

Her brother Lane, however, said he was more looking forward to the tractors.

“I’m excited to ride those tractors,” he said as he looked through the fence to see the tractor he would be pulling on.

Drummond said she was excited to ride the tractors as well.

Maison and Saylor Kimble, ages 4 and 2 respectively, were also participating in this year’s tractor pull. Maison has participated in kiddie pedal tractor pulls before and has even qualified for state next year. She also qualified for state and nationals last year.

Maison said she enjoys, “getting prizes and having fun.” Saylor said that she was excited for her first tractor pull.

This year’s kiddie pedal tractor pull was held in memory of Tony Hoffman, Ridgewood FFA alumni president for many years.

“He was the one that spearheaded all the kiddie tractor pulls,” said Sue Davis, FFA advisor. “He had a love of kids.”

Hoffman died suddenly in June 2018.

“His favorite thing was to watch the kids smile and to see them get their ribbons,” said Davis.

Davis said it means a lot to see Hoffman recognized and honored at the kiddie pedal tractor pull.

“It’s going to be in his honor a long as we do it,” said Davis. “The man who donated the sleds said to take his name off of them and put Tony’s name on.”

The kiddie pedal tractor pull had five weight classes from 30 to 125 pounds. The Ridgewood FFA also does kiddie tractor pulls at churches and other organizations. They said their biggest pulls are at the Coshocton County Fair and the Tuscarawas County Fair.
