4-H members demonstrate culinary skills
COSHOCTON – Taylor Richard’s Big Mac Sliders were one of the many yummy dishes that fairgoers could sample during the tasting smorgasbord held Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 1 at the Coshocton County Fair.
The event was open to regular 4-H members and Cloverbuds like Richard. He was one of eight Cloverbuds who participated with 14 regular 4-H members. With the help of adults they served their dishes up to the crowd that gathered in the youth building.
Karin Moran, who organized the event along with Alonna Hoffman, said all the competitors received a participation gift. The regular 4-H members who entered were eligible to receive ribbons, certificates, and a $3 premium ($1 from the senior fairboard and $2 from the 4-H FCS Committee).
Jean Haumschild was one of several judges who helped place the winners.
“Everything is really, really good and we have great variety,” she said. “It’s nice that it’s not just girls too. We have a lot of little boys here. This program has really grown.”
Haumschild’s daughter Katie Wesney also was helping sample the goodies.
“I like that you get to take the recipes home,” she said.
