Michael D. Burkey

Michael D. “Mike” Burkey, 64, of West Lafayette passed away at the Truman Hospice House in New Philadelphia on Wednesday October 2, 2019 after a brief illness.

Mike was born in Millersburg, Ohio on October 27, 1954 to the late Russell and Betty (Skelley) Burkey.  He graduated from West Holmes High School and was a longhaul truck driver throughout his life.  Mike served in the U.S. Army, was a member of Countryside Baptist Church, Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard, American Legion Post 65, life member of the AMVETS and Coshocton County Vietnam Veterans.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife Roxann (Lawrence) Burkey whom he married June 21, 1985; two sons Jeremy (Randi) Burkey of Japan and Michael S. (Alisha) Burkey of Wooster; three daughters Rachel (Jaron) Fallon of West Lafayette, Brandy (Shawn) Barnard of Wooster and Mandy (Bobby) Myers of Brinkhaven, OH; 12 grandchildren.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Friday October 4, 2019 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Funeral services for Mike will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:00 PM with Pastor Paul Harvey, Pastor Terry Weirich and Wyman Miller officiating.  Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard will also be performing military honors.  Entombment of Mike’s cremated remains will take place on a later date in Fairfield Cemetery.
