Downing joins Muskingum Valley Health Center
ZANESVILLE – October 2019 marked a new beginning for the OB/GYN practice of Dr. Jeffery Downing and his team. On Oct. 1, Dr. Downing joined Muskingum Valley Health Centers (MVHC) to continue offering both gynecology and obstetrician services located at his current site, 945 Bethesda Drive Suite 140 in Zanesville. Although Dr. Downing’s operations are transitioning to MVHC, all current patients of his practice will continue to receive excellent care from him and his team. “I have been searching for an organization to join that cares for my patients as much as I do because I’m not ready to retire yet,” said Dr. Downing. “It was an obvious choice when talking to the individuals at MVHC because they truly care for the patients they serve. The only thing that changes with this merger is the name on the door. Our address, phone number even my uniform will stay the same.”

Dr. Downing is an M.D., FACOG who originally graduated from Philo High School and then went on to attend Otterbein College and The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. From there, he completed an internship and residency at Akron City Hospital.
Founded in 2008, MVHC, a 501(c)(3), opened its doors to provide improved access to primary care services. This was the result of a group of community leaders coming together with one goal in mind, to provide access to quality, affordable healthcare.
Today, one in five individuals utilizes MVHC as their primary care provider allowing them to serve nearly 40,000 patients per year. MVHC provides adult health, pediatrics, dentistry, OB/GYN, podiatry and behavioral health services to all individuals regardless of ability to pay, insurance or residency. At MVHC, their team of providers are committed to serving our communities in Coshocton, Guernsey, Morgan and Muskingum counties.
MVHC not only has a positive impact on the local healthcare delivery system, but it also has a significant impact on the local economy. With an annual budget of over 20 million dollars and as an employer who employs over 300 individuals, they are constantly expanding in our market area.
