Bowling fundraiser to benefit First Step

| October 23, 2019

COSHOCTON – Step on the lane and help First Step strike out violence.

If you act fast you can still get a team together and signed up for the organization’s bowling fundraiser set for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1-2, at Legacy Lanes & Lounge, 775 S. Second St.

“Majority of our funding is from federal grants and some state,” said Vicki Laudick Casey. “Right now the field of domestic violence is seeing a reduction of funding. There was a little this year and we will see it next year. Eight-five percent of our budget is from out of county. We do receive funding from United Way and from donations, but we have to be prepared and look ahead for a loss in federal money.”

The organization has tried different fundraisers over the past 25 years and has struggled to find one that works for them. However, Laudick Casey feels this bowling event is one they can build upon.

Teams can have a maximum of four people and will bowl for two hours. Goal sponsorship is $300 per team or $75 per person. Minimum sponsorship is $120 per team or $30 per person.

“All the money (raised) will stay right here and help serve victims of domestic violence or help with prevention programs,” Laudick Casey said.

Teams can register until Thursday, Oct. 31 by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZMMWCG3 or calling First Step at 740-622-8504. Time slots for teams are 10 a.m. to noon and noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2. Registration includes shoe rental, t-shirt, pizza from the bowling alley, drinks, and the chance to win door prizes. Money is due the day you bowl.

“We couldn’t do this without the support of those who made donations,” Laudick Casey said.

In addition to donations for door prizes the following businesses are lane sponsors: Frontier Propane, AEP Conesville, Coshocton Regional Medical Center, the Coshocton Foundation, Coshocton Elks #376 Charities, McWane Ductile – Ohio, Home Loan Savings Bank, Kiwanis of Coshocton, Coshocton BPW, Interim Healthcare, WTNS Radio Coshocton, Pomerene Burns & Skelton, CRAIBO Properties, LLC, Century National Bank, Ohio Fabricators, Peddicord Rice Auction Realty, Hathaway Inc., Jacobs Vanaman Agency, and Coshocton Richard Downing Airport. Laudick Casey said they also are grateful for the support of Legacy Lanes, Simple Signs and Root Wear.
