Sixth Street Tattoo helping to keep people warm

COSHOCTON – The owners of Sixth Street Tattoo are always looking for ways to give back to the community. Their newest project is focused on helping people stay warm this winter.
For the past week the business has had a coat rack set up outside where community members can either donate or take a coat. There also is a basket for hats, scarves and gloves.
“It’s been a success,” said Billie Valentine, who runs Sixth Street Tattoo with her husband Char. “I’m leaving it out there 24-7 and people have been coming to take things and leave them.”
She added that no one will be singled out and no questions will be asked.
“We welcome donations for all ages and for anyone who has a need to come,” Billie said. “If you have a coat you can’t wear anymore come swap it out for another one.”
She and her husband believe at least 50 coats have already come and gone.
“It’s been amazing how much the community has helped,” Billie said.
One kind gentleman even brought in a generous donation of brand new gloves, scarves and hats and few men’s coats. Some have even dropped off boots, shoes, and toddler pants.
“My husband was here and there was a girl who I assume was a mom out front with her son,” Billie said. “They came in so her son could say thank you. He told him to take care of the coat because it had been his son’s. It was really sweet. It tears at your heart strings.”
Sixth Street Tattoo is located at 114 S. Sixth Street. Billie said they plan to continue to collect and distribute items throughout the cold weather months. They just remind people that the items are not intended to be taken for resale.
