Kenneth Robert Grier
Kenneth Robert Grier, 89, of West Lafayette, passed away on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at his home with family by his side.
He was born on Aug. 26, 1930 in Columbus to the late Kenneth F. and Sara Katherine (Kestler) Grier.
Kenny was a graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic School. He then joined the Army National Guard in 1951 and served until 1953. Kenny worked at Buckeye Clothing Company as the manager for several years, was a salesman for Nabisco, Fairmont Foods and was a two term mayor in Coshocton. Kenny then retired from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles as deputy registrar.
Kenny was a member of Sacred Heart Church, a former member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, loved singing and playing the drums and was known as the “King of Karaoke” in Naples, Fla.; collecting postcards and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Patricia (Morrison) Grier, nine children, Lynn (Bill) Mayberry of Howard, Tom (Sandy) Grier of Coshocton, Karen Hooper of Naples, Fla., Mark (Kim) Grier of Warsaw, Marianne (Glenn) Yoder of Williamsburg, Va., Kevin Grier of Coshocton, Amy (Daryl) Berry of Adams Mills, Elaine Haynes of West Lafayette, and Brian (Serenna) Grier of Coshocton; daughter-in-law, Liz Grier of Jefferson; 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Dal Donovan of Coshocton.
Along with his parents, Kenny is preceded in death by his son Jeff Grier; grandson, Jared Grier; four brothers; and one sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Blubaugh officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery with the Coshocton County Veterans Council Honor Guard preforming military honors.
