COSHOCTON – Jay Olinger saw the difference hospice made at the end of his grandparents’ lives and is ready to help others see that.

Olinger joined Interim HealthCare Hospice at the end of July as the new administrator. He is a graduate of River View High School and is a licensed nursing home administrator. Prior to joining the hospice team he worked for 10 years in nursing homes.

“They (Interim) are not just here for the patients, but the families too,” Olinger said. “They make a really big connection with families. We give back to the community here too. We have a nonprofit branch called The Mary Grace Foundation. Donations that go into it are used to help our patients who might need help with things like their bills.”

As the company moves into 2020, Olinger is looking forward to sharing with others about hospice.

“We want to see growth and serve more people and help them learn more about what we offer,” he said.

While nursing care is primarily what people think of when it comes to hospice, there is much more to the picture.

“We also offer spiritual care through our chaplain, social services through a licensed social worker and bereavement services,” Olinger said. “We can do all that up to 13 months following a person’s death.”

His goal is for Interim HealthCare Hospice to make a difference in as many people’s lives as it can.

“There is a stigma that hospice means you are giving up, but what we offer is hope and support during a difficult time of life,” Olinger said.
