Children’s resale celebrating first anniversary
Kelly Loper knew people were going out of town for children’s resales and wanted to give them this resource locally. She accomplished her goal with the Coshocton County Kids Stuff Sale, which will celebrate its first anniversary in March.
“I wanted to give the community an opportunity to buy and sell gently used kids items,” Loper said. “I know families can’t really afford to shop new all the time.”
The organization’s anniversary sale will be Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, March 16 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Monday, March 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (half price shopping day) at New Beginnings Ministries, 331 E. Church St., Warsaw.
“The March sale will have all seasons of items,” Loper said. “There will be clothing from infants to juniors, shoes, outdoor items and anything kid-related — room décor, toys, books, bedding and crafts.”
There also will be a special anniversary celebration on March 14.
“The first 50 customers get free hot dogs, snacks and drinks, and we will have a drawing for a gift basket and $10 gift certificate to be used at the March sale,” Loper said.
She plans to continue to have three sales a year.
“Our March sale will be anything kid-related, the fall sale in August will be a back-to-school sale and the winter one in October will be just winter items,” Loper said. “We also will have maternity items.”
The sale has grown to the point it will now be held in the church’s basement.
“There will be signs to show you where the door is,” Loper said.
Anyone interested in becoming a seller is encouraged to visit the Coshocton County Kids Stuff Sale page. There is no cutoff date for signing up as a seller, but March 1 is the cutoff for having items priced for you. Message the group’s page for more information.
“If you volunteer to help, you can get early preview shopping and half-price shopping,” Loper said. “You also get 80 percent of your profit compared to 75 percent. You don’t have to be a seller in order to help though. If you just help, you would still get early shopping time.”
Setup for the sale will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and drop-off from 2-5 p.m. on Friday, March 13. Seller/helper preview shopping will then be from 5-8 p.m. on March 13, and half-price shopping day will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, March 16. Pickup options are 5-8 p.m. on Monday, March 17 and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18.
“At the end of the sale, sellers have the opportunity to take their items back and bring them to another sale or leave them with us to be donated to a children’s charity,” Loper said. “We choose who they go to based on the year and who is in need.”
She encourages people to come check out the sale and see what they have to offer.
“The inventory changes every sale based on what people bring,” Loper said. “Everything is gently used, and prices are reasonable. It’s very similar to sales in Sugarcreek and Zanesville, but I wanted to keep it local to help people in the community.”
