Emergency relief fund grants awarded

The United Way of Coshocton board has set up an emergency relief fund to assist other non-profit organizations lending aid to victims of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

First round applications were due April 1 and a sub-committee of the United Way board met to make recommendations.

Grants approved by the board are as follows:

  • River View Schools food program – $5,000
  • Salvation Army Financial Assistance program – $5,000
  • Salvation Army Food Assistance program – $3,200
  • Coshocton County Homeland Security and Emergency Management – $2,000
  • Coshocton County Senior Center basic needs assistance – $2,000
  • Vincent De Paul financial assistance program – $2,500
  • New Life Ministry Food Pantry – $2,000

Contributions received thus far from local foundations and corporations include the United Way of Coshocton, Coshocton Foundation Johnston Fund, the Simpson Family Foundation, Schooler Foundation, Buckeye Brine, Century National Bank, and about a dozen individuals.

If you wish to contribute to the fund, you can send a check payable to the United Way with emergency fund on the memo line.  The address is P.O. Box 84, Coshocton, Ohio 43812.  You can also donate through the www.coshoctonunitedway.org website, click on the GIVE tab on the home page and be sure to indicate “emergency fund” in the additional information box.

A second round of applications will be accepted and due May 1. The application can be accessed through the website as well or you can request one via email to:  director@coshoctonunitedway.org.

2-1-1 has been re-established for Coshocton, so individuals with questions concerning the pandemic can call 2-1-1.  If that number does not work, you can call 1-844-318-3909.
