| April 20, 2020

Speaker Larry Householder announced that Coshocton County is eligible for as much as $1 million in public transit aid.

The state controlling board approved the funding, which is part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act President Trump signed into law on March 27.

“It was very important that Ohio act quickly to approve this funding and support local programs such as this in rural Ohio, especially during what is a very challenging and historic time in our nation’s history,” said Householder (R-Glenford).

The CARES Act provides emergency assistance and health care response for individuals, families and businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and provide emergency appropriations to support Executive Branch agency operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding for rural public transportation service providers, which is being administered by the Ohio Department of Transportation, provides 100 percent reimbursement for expenses related to the response and impacts of COVID-19, according to ODOT.

ODOT estimates Coshocton County is eligible for as much as $1,016,817 from the CARES Act rural transit traditional allocation. Coshocton County is also eligible for an estimated $120,220 for mobility management.
