Ridgewood appreciates community’s support

The Ridgewood Local School Board met in regular session on May 11.
Superintendent Mike Masloski updated the board on the weekly instructional lessons the students are currently receiving. The online learning sessions have been going very well. The graduating class of 2020 were commended for their impending graduation. The senior parade was held on May 8 and was a huge success. The parade route was full of enthusiastic community members, family, and many, many supporters of our wonderful community.
Ohio Highway State Patrolman Brian Hawkins was commended for his dedication and time helping every distribution day packing food at the middle school. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented by Treasurer Jay Tingle. Donations were accepted from Carol Lawless $150 for cafeteria, Tina Snodgrass $50, Seibert Studios for the donation of spring sports posters valued at $1,190, Crozier Welding $4,800 for volleyball equipment, and an anonymous donation to the cafeteria of $100.
Masloski presented the following items that were approved by the board: Retirement of Cheryl Hootman bus driver and custodian effective June 30; certified one year contracts to Jane Buehler, Savannah Gress, Ryan Lowe, Ashley Mason and Chad Massie; two year contracts to Sam Carpenter, Rachel Endlich, Autumn Hendershot, Matt Humphrey, Brenda McCoy, Tyler McCullough, and Christopher McVay; three year contracts to Haley Evans, Ryan Gress, John Lindig, and Logan Pyers; and continuing contracts to Todd Cabot, Jamie Davis, Leslie Dulgar and Dawn Ward. Classified contracts approved were: Two years to Mary Lou Schwartz, James Kirker, and Elaine Haynes; continuing contracts to Kim Baker and Darcy Brickles.
A resolution for the 2020-2021 school year to utilize blended learning blizzard bags and online calamity plans when deemed necessary was approved. The list of graduating seniors was approved for graduation. Voluntary transfers approved included: Laura Guenther to head cook at RES, Vickie Hall to six hour cook at RES, Robin Mullen to six hour cook at RMS and Sharon McCormick to 3.5 hour cook at RES. A supplemental clarification was approved for RHS Concert/Drama Music nka Musical Coordinator/Drama Assistant, Haley Evans; Assistant Drama Advisor (combined with the Musical coordinator/Drama Assistant; Choir Ensemble (new position)- Haley Evans.
The board wishes to convey the utmost praise to the Ridgewood School District Community. The success of the Ridgewood Local School District depends on everyone working together toward a successful school year. The entire staff of our school, the co-operation of parents, guardians, grandparents, the flexibility of our students, the strong leadership in our superintendent, treasurer, and administrators, and the support of our wonderful community are appreciated beyond words that the board can express.
The next regular board meeting will be at 7 a.m. Monday, June 15, at Ridgewood Elementary School in the cafeteria.
