Flat Broke Bikers announce plans for bicycle giveaway

| May 20, 2020

The Flat Broke Bikers are hosting a bicycle giveaway for children.

“We just decided that with all that’s been going on we wanted to do something for the community and the kids,” said Jesse Conrad, president of the group. “The kids have had an awkward school year. Mine are definitely going stir crazy and I figured others are too. We thought this was something that could help small businesses too.”

Through Friday, June 26 children 14 and under in Coshocton County can enter to win a bike simply by visiting The Freeze in Coshocton, Dair-Hut in West Lafayette, or Dari-Land in Warsaw. Just ask any employee at any of the locations for a ticket to fill out. Include your name, age, parent/guardian name, and phone number so winners can be contacted. No purchase necessary.

“We wanted kids to be able to just go and sign up,” Conrad said. We realize a lot of people may have lost their jobs or got laid off and parents might not have a couple extra dollars for an ice cream cone.”

A boy and girl will be drawn to win a free new bike at each location. Several other winners will receive a gift certificate to the location where their ticket was drawn. Winners will be drawn on Saturday, June 27.

“We are asking for their age so we can get a bike that is the right size for them,” Conrad said. “We also thought this would be a good way to get some exercise and have a good time this summer. We are a small group with not a lot of money, but we try to give back as much as we can.”
