“Since day one of being closed to the public we have been actively working on restoring services,” said Coshocton Library Director Jennifer Austin. “We took a realistic look at what we could launch.”
Patrons can get access online and look to see what items are available for them or they can call. They are notified when the items are available and schedule a 15 minute time slot. Orders for that day are bagged with the patrons name on the bag and placed on the step near the door by time slot.
“Its been pretty popular,” Austin said. “Our time slots have been completely full. It is certainly being used.”
Everything is accessible that they normally check out: DVD’s, Audio CD’s and books, The children’s kits will not have toys in them because of health concerns. Returns can be placed in the drop box.
“There are 12 areas in the library where we set items in quarantine and sanitize,” Austin said. “The item type determines how long it will be in quarantine based on studies from the National Institute of Health.”
“The first week was very busy. We were booked solid on Thursday and Friday every slot was full, as well,” Austin said. “We want to provide more services as soon as we can. There’s no date so far for when patrons can come into the building in the foreseeable future.”
