The former Union Elementary School sold for $120,000 during an auction held June 29 at the property.

River View Local Schools Superintendent Dalton Summers said Darren Stahl was the highest bidder. The school board accepted his bid during its Tuesday morning, June 30 meeting, but the sale is not final until closing.

“I was really pleased with that sale,” Summers said. “That money will go to our permanent improvement fund and we will use it toward window projects beginning at Warsaw and Conesville (elementaries).”

An online sale also was held for contents left in the building.

“There were very few things left,” Summers said. “We went through everything several times and moved everything we could use. We offered the Christian school the opportunity to go out and take what they could use, and Hopewell also took a little.”

Some of the items left for bidders to purchase were overhead projectors, desks and older style televisions.

A total of $2,833.52 was raised from the online auction. This money also went to the permanent improvement fund, which is where the district is required to put money made from the sale of personal or real property.

“This (fund) is used for maintenance of existing buildings,” Summers said.

Peddicord Rice Auction Realty managed both auctions for the school district.

“We thank them and appreciate what they did for us,” Summers said.
