Sheila Baker studied the restaurant business in school and dreamed of having her own one day but didn’t want a huge one. When she discovered how popular food trucks were she knew she found her calling.

Baker has been operating She’s Snack Shack for five years now.  She started her business with a small trailer that she set up in the parking lot at Rural King.

“Mike (her husband and co-owner) said we could get a bigger one when we had the cash in hand,” Sheila said. “We were able to get our new one within a year and half.”

Over the years she also has been set up at the Coshocton County Fair, Richard Downing Airport, and Potter Welding, where she caught the attention of employees from McWane Ductile.

“They were coming over and getting our food then one day a lady from HR came over and asked about us setting up over there,” Sheila said. “We’ve been doing all three shifts over there now for about two months.”

The guys love having hot food and cold drinks right on site. Both Sheila and her fellow co-worker Ann Goodwin have also listened to their menu recommendations and taken them into consideration. Iced tea is now on the menu and so is the brand-new Boom Boom Burger, which features a special sauce, huge onion ring and more.

She’s Snack Shack also is known for its funnel cakes, deep fried goodies and homemade coney sauce.

“When I was set up at Rural King people would buy bags of it and take it home,” Sheila said.

She and Ann have both enjoyed expanding their customer base and working together.

“We’ve been friends since seventh grade,” Ann said. “We work well together and can read each other’s minds.”

Sheila is very happy with the way business is going.

“I’d like to keep it the way it is,” she said. “I’m really satisfied and anytime I can help out local people I will. I love doing that.”
