Foothills Studio & Gallery to feature Galajda’s artwork

| July 20, 2020

Ernest Galajda will be the featured artist at Foothills Studio & Gallery through the end of the month.

Galajda is known for his outdoor scenes featuring barns, birds, and flowers. He is an acrylic painter but is currently expanding his horizon.

“I’m taking an oil class right now and it’s a lot of fun,” Galajda said.

He enjoys filling his time with art.

“I’m retired so I wanted to do something productive with all my spare time,” Galajda said. “You get to meet different people too. A common factor for a lot of us (artists) is Shara Prindle from The Frame Shop. She wanted to start the old artist group back up and started talking about it to people coming in to get pieces framed.”

He is part of the Coshocton County Artist Collective, which the owners of the Foothills Studio & Gallery also belong to. Melissa Maxwell, one of the gallery owners, said they are hoping to have regular guest artists.

Galajda has 16 larger pieces and several miniatures on display and all are available for purchase. The larger ones range in price from $60 to $80 and the miniatures are $5 to $10. His work also can be purchased at Rust Décor.

“I chose them (the big pieces) because they were all unique and presented their own challenge for me,” Galajda said.

He also does commission work.

“I love seeing people’s excitement when I do those pieces,” Galajda said.

Foothills Studio & Gallery is located in Roscoe Village below Good Boy Bakery. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
