Business partners ready to bring Ollie’s to Coshocton
Jason Pendola and Michael Mast believe in the future of Coshocton and are excited to help move it forward.
The business partners bought the former Woodbury Outfitters store on Second Street and are excited to announce that Ollie’s will be moving into the location.
“We both believe in Coshocton and think it has a great future,” Mast said. “That building had been empty long enough and it was time for someone to do something about it.”
Pendola agreed with him.
“There was a lot of opportunity with the building and Michael and I had been brainstorming for months about what we could do with it,” Pendola said. “This was one of many ideas, but it was the one where the doors opened, and we walked through them.”
According to Ollie’s website, ollies.us, “Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is one of America’s largest retailers of closeout merchandise and excess inventory. You’ll find real brands at real bargain prices in every department, from housewares, to sporting goods, to flooring and to food.”
There is currently an Ollie’s in Dover and Newark and Mast said one is opening in Zanesville.
“We think Ollie’s is a perfect fit for the community,” he said. “It’s the kind of store that allows people to have a great selection of diverse items at discount prices. They have anything and everything.”
Pendola’s Gemini Company will prepare the building for Ollie’s to occupy it and they plan for it to open in the spring of 2021.
“We are waiting on some decisions by Ollie’s, but will begin working as soon as possible,” Pendola said. “We are talking to many local contractors as well in preparation for getting the building together and will hire some people locally.”
Mast added that it’s a great building in a good location.
“There’s plenty of parking and it’s right there with Rural King, plus Taco Bell, Aldi’s, Crowtown Pizza, and Buehler’s are right there,” he said. “We think it’s one of the best areas on Second Street. We still have about 20,000 square feet of retail space available for two or three new tenants.”
Mast is president of AloNovus, which purchased The Beacon in January and Pendola has operated his construction business in Coshocton for 20 years.
“At AloNovus, we are all about helping businesses grow,” Mast said. “So, as a business owner in Coshocton I want to do what I can to help grow the economy and enhance the community. We want to do more than just hope for growth, we want to be part of making it happen.”
“I believe in getting in the trenches and making things happen,” Pendola said. “We stay busy and I’m counting on future growth in Coshocton. We see it now. People are starting to move into the community, and we want to be able to offer them some nice retail shopping and keep as much money in town as possible.”
