Sheriff’s office offers tips to deal with phone scams

| August 25, 2020

The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office recently received reports of phone scammers calling requesting donations for the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office does not call and solicit for money. One of the frequent numbers used by this recent scam has been from 216-716-2333.

To protect yourself from potential phone scams, follow these tips: Don’t answer calls from unknown numbers; don’t return one ring calls; don’t talk with the caller or give out personal information; and don’t make any payments by wire transfer, gift cards or prepaid debit cards. Do: Put your number on the “Do Not call Registry” 888-382-1222; hang up on robo calls; file a complaint with the FTC at 877-382-4357 if you have received scammer phone calls; call your Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office if you have any questions or concerns.
