West Lafayette Homecoming Queen makes donation to CBHC

The 2019-2020 West Lafayette Homecoming Queen Destiny Sesser recently donated toys from her Sensory Toy Drive to The Flight School at CBHC. Sesser collected donated toys as part of her community outreach while serving as homecoming queen. The Flight School, a part of CBHC, provides counseling services for children and their families. Sesser said, “Having two little cousins that I love dearly who have Autism, I see first-hand how these sensory toys can affect their growth.” Sesser turned that love into her community project while serving as queen.
The Flight School serves the mental health needs of children in the Coshocton County area. Through play-based interventions, children learn valuable skills in how they problem solve, express their feelings, and modify their behavior. It helps younger children work through issues such as trauma, anxiety, ADHD and more. The Flight School has counselors trained in Children Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). “Play is an integral part of allowing children to express their emotions and feel safe,” said Jeanette Hall, LPCC-S, director of Family & Prevention Services. The Flight School has also partnered with River View and Coshocton schools this year to provide services to children K-12 who may need that extra support to succeed.
