| October 22, 2020

Historic Roscoe Village will hold Trick or Treat from 4-5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29, but will be subject to guidance from the office of Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine.

Trick or Treat is a popular activity for area children, residents, and shop keepers alike, it is important that the activity proceed in the safest way possible.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Health released guidance on Friday for the best practices for Halloween, including trick-or-treating.

“Halloween historically in the state has been a very community event,” DeWine said. He added that Ohio has a long history of local communities planning trick-or-treat times and the guidance will not change that. Masks will be required, and communities will be expected to social distance. According to the guidance:

For parents and caregivers

  • For trick-or-treating, limit the number of houses/businesses you visit and ask your children to stay as far from treat-givers as possible. For small children, consider holding the bag for them.
  • Wipe off candy wrappers with sanitizing wipes when you arrive home.
  • Allow children to eat only factory-wrapped treats. Avoid homemade treats made by strangers.
  • If your child is at greater risk of complications from COVID-19, contact your doctor before allowing participation in Halloween activities.
