River View going remote for a week after Thanksgiving break
When River View Local Schools’ students return from Thanksgiving break, they will be fully remote beginning Dec. 1 and continuing through Dec. 7.
The goal is to return to the current face-to-face model on Tuesday, Dec. 8. This means students will leave for Thanksgiving Break on Nov. 25 and will not return to their buildings for instruction until Dec. 8.
“We maintain that face to face instruction is the most effective and beneficial method of delivery and are working hard to keep this as an option for our students,” said Superintendent Dalton Summers. “We are still struggling with the growing numbers of quarantines and some positive cases causing our staff to be unavailable for weeks at a time. Our current situation is such that we are working day to day to adequately staff each building and are hopeful to get to Thanksgiving break without having to put any buildings into a full remote model.”
These additional remote learning days for all students will hopefully create an adequate amount of time to get staffing levels back where they need to be, and the number of cases and student/staff quarantines down.
“For this effort to be effective, we ask that everyone please be cautions and exercise safe practices while enjoying the holiday,” Summers said. “During this period of remote instruction (Dec. 1-7), please help us troubleshoot potential areas that need adjusted or improved upon so that in the event future actions like this become necessary, we will be able to successfully educate our kids in the best way we can. These times require a commitment from us all to provide what we know is best for our children. We appreciate our community and families supporting our students and our district through these very challenging times.”

The district also now offers drive-up Internet for its Chromebooks at each building. McWane Ductile has drive-up WiFi for students and so does the local library. There also are businesses and churches who have opened their WiFi to students as well. Reach out to your building administrators if you have questions regarding Internet access.
