Meet Sydney Hadley – LCC Class of 2021

Sydney Hadley grew up in Muskingum County, mostly in the Dresden area.  A 2009 graduate of Tri-Valley High School, this Fighting Scottie ran cross country; track and played basketball. She was also was a member of the Adamsville Mixed Farmers 4-H Club where she showed cattle. Hadley attended Muskingum University, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business/Economics. Wanting to further her education, Sydney is working towards her Master’s in Human Resource Management at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

Hadley’s first job after graduation was in New Albany, where she was employed by Discover Financial Services. She then changed positions and worked for Comp Management in Dublin. During that time she met her husband, who is a teacher for Tri-Valley, and that brought her back to the area. She found employment with Genesis Hospital in the financial department, where she worked for two years and realized she did not enjoy finance. Sydney began looking for other opportunities, and stumbled upon McWane Ductile through an online listing. She began her career with McWane in 2016 as benefits coordinator/human resources. Promoted twice in 2018- first to human resources generalist and to her current position as assistant human resources manager. As assistant HR manager, Hadley works in employee relations and benefits. She helps employees upon hire; deals with employee issues and has the unfortunate role of employee termination as well. What Hadley likes most about her job is “working with the employees- salary and hourly alike.” Her greatest challenge is finding skilled trade employees such as mechanics and electricians as well as attracting potential employees to move to Coshocton. They are always seeking skilled labor and offer internships.

Hadley is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management and stated, “As a growing leader, I want to find local organizations to be a part of in Coshocton.”

Hadley decided to participate in Leadership Coshocton County (LCC) because she “wants to grow as a leader and to learn more about Coshocton County.”  As she recruits new hires for McWane, Hadley knows “if I have the education, when interviewing others, I can use that knowledge to convince people to move here. I can educate others on all Coshocton has to offer.” She also stated, “It’s cool to learn about others’ involved with LCC; meeting other people; networking, and learning what they do.”

Growing up, Sydney would “come here quite a bit.”  She appreciates the “small-town feel” and considers Coshocton a “great community.”  She considers Coshocton a “growing community” that has “gotten better over the years.”  She recognizes like other towns, Coshocton has its problems, but “Coshocton County has so much to offer such as Roscoe Village and many others” she did not know about before learning about Coshocton’s history in LCC.

To make the county stronger, Hadley feels the answer is in the youth of the county; specifically, “getting the youth – once they graduate – to want to come back here and start a family.” Hadley said, “It’s a cycle – getting the word out about the different employers and how to let others know about the opportunities” here.  She pointed out she had “never heard of McWane Ductile” prior to working there

Hadley would recommend Leadership Coshocton “for anybody wanting to grow as a leader or become a leader.” She has appreciated “learning about the community; networking with others and share what their practices and experiences are.” She hopes to remain connected after graduation to continue to network and share ideas. “Being a part of LCC has made me like Coshocton more and want to stay here. The more you learn about it, the more you want to be here.”
