Accident involved semi and vehicle

On Feb. 13, 2024 at approximately 11:11 a.m. the sheriff’s office received a 911 call in reference to an injury accident involving a semi and vehicle in the 26000 block of State Route 83, Keene Township.

Upon arrival of emergency personnel, it was determined that Walter Withrow, 63 years old, of Shreve was traveling north on State Route 83 when he pulled his SUV off the side of the roadway in attempt to turn around. Withrow then re-entered the roadway failing to yield to traffic and was struck by a semi traveling north being operated by Gregory Crabtree, 44 years old, of Ontario, Ohio.

Once the collision occurred, the tractor trailer and SUV both went left of center and off the left side of the roadway over a slight embankment before coming to a rest.  Withrow had one passenger who was identified as David Raber, 34 years old, of Millersburg. Both Withrow and Raber were transported by emergency squad to Joel Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg.

Assisting the sheriff’s office on scene was the Coshocton County EMS, Three Rivers Fire District, Prince’s Wrecker Service, and REACT.
