AEP hosts educational day

CONESVILLE – The AEP Conesville Plant Outdoor Education Day for area fifth and sixth graders was held May 13. More than 700 students, teachers and chaperones attended the fun and educational day. “Coal fired power plants like ours often get a negative reputation so we do this to show we are doing a lot to protect and improve the environment, offer outdoor education and even demonstrate how to be safe around downed power lines,” said Mike Martin, energy production manager. This is the 15th year for the event. “We have a lot of retirees that come back because it’s been a tradition for them,” Martin said. “They had kids go through the program and now grandkids.”

I also earned several awards while working for daily papers, including being honored by Coshocton County’s veterans for the stories I wrote about them. I am honored and ready to once again shine a positive light on Coshocton County. I also am the proud mother of a little girl named Sophia!
