Alice Joyce Wiandt

Alice Joyce Wiandt, 91, of Coshocton passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021.

Alice was born in Coshocton on Nov. 24, 1929, to the late James Wilson and Bertha May (Wiggins) Perkins. She married John Vernon Wiandt on June 27, 1948, at Central Christian Church in a dual ceremony with their lifetime friends Russell and Mary Mossman.

She graduated from Coshocton High School in the class of 1947 and graduated from the Canton Academy of Beauty Culture in 1948. Alice worked at Norma Gayle’s Beauty Salon for many years and retired as a cafeteria worker at Coshocton City Schools in 1991. Alice was a Cradle Roll Member of the Central Christian Church; her faith was deeply important to her.

Alice treasured spending time with her family, especially traveling and vacations to Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach, and Pigeon Forge. She also loved having breakfast with “The Girls” at the Eagles Lodge in Coshocton.

She is survived by her two children, Jonalee Wiandt Roahrig and Jim (Sherri) Wiandt both of Coshocton; grandchildren, Allison and Cameron Wiandt of Coshocton; brother-in-law, Arlie G. (Betty) Wiandt of Newcomerstown; three nieces and their families all of Newcomerstown; her last remaining cousin, Naomi Ruth Powell of Canton; lifelong friends, Mary Mossman and Ruth Schwab; and special caregivers and friends, April Turner, Cathy Cox, Julie Pace, Jackie Mason and the outstanding neighbors and friends that were willing to help Mom out in anyway, Alice’s family sincerely appreciates all of you.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Vernon Wiandt who passed away in 2002.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Funeral services for Alice will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Philip Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Coshocton County Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Coshocton County Animal Shelter, 21755 TR 164, Coshocton, OH 43812 and/or St. Jude’s, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
