Anna Jean (McCabe) Womer

Womer_0002COSHOCTON – Anna Jean (McCabe) Womer, age 90, of Coshocton, passed away in Columbus on Monday, March 27, 2017.

Anna Jean was born on March 7, 1927 in Canal Lewisville to the late John H. and Nellie M. (McGiffin) McCabe. Anna Jean graduated from Muskingum College with a Master’s in Education and was an elementary school teacher for the Coshocton City Schools before she retired. On November 24, 1948, Anna Jean married her late husband, Allen Croft Womer, who preceded her in death in 2012. Anna Jean was a life member of Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church and of OEA and ORTA. She also was a member of the Coshocton OEA, chapter #157, the Marie Shrine #34, the Ohio State White Shrine, the J.F. Lautenschlager Chapter of Retired Teachers, and the Coshocton Community Band. Some of the hobbies that Anna Jean enjoyed were painting, knitting, and sewing.

Anna Jean is survived by her three children: Sue Ellen (Ronald) VanWinkle, Michael Allen (Cassandra Clancy) Womer, and Steven John (Dianna) Womer; four grandchildren: Melissa (Dan) Schuster, Jennifer (Donald) Marangoni, Kimberly VanWinkle, Michael (Jenelle) VanWinkle; four great-grandchildren: Catherine VanWinkle, Jeffrey VanWinkle, Michael VanWinkle, Jr., Steven Marangoni; and two sisters: June Martin and Eleanor Moore.

Along with her husband and parents, Anna Jean is preceded in death by her sister, Edith McCabe.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2017 at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Granger officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
