Annual kids’ fishing derby planned at Lake Park
The annual kids’ fishing derby has been a huge event that families look forward to every year. This year, the derby will be held on Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lake Park. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and kids can fish until 2 p.m.
Children of all ages are welcome to fish. Free bait will be available and every child who registers will receive a ticket for a free hot dog and drink. Other food items will be available for purchase, too.
Fish over 9” long will receive $10 prizes. Every trout caught is a $10 prize. There are also several age groups (one for boys and one for girls) that will compete for prizes. Door prizes will be given away at 2 p.m. and every child who has registered will be entered into the drawing for those prizes.
This event is sponsored by the Coshocton County Sportsman’s Association, Friends of the Park, and the Coshocton Park District. Friends of the Park will be stocking the lake with $2,500 worth of blue gill, bass, crappie, and trout from Fender’s Fish Hatchery for the fishing derby.
The fishing derby will be held rain or shine and is free to enter. All children in the community are invited to fish.
