Annual Wild Turkey banquet cancelled

| February 15, 2021

The Muskingum Valley Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) has decided to cancel the 2021 banquet due to the COVID-19 pandemic, citing concerns for the health and safety of supporters.

A spokesperson for the organization said, “We hope to be back stronger than ever for the 2022 banquet.” The banquet is typically held the first weekend in March at Lake Park Pavilion and is widely considered the best banquet in Ohio and beyond. The spokesperson said, “The support that we receive from the community, businesses and our volunteer members is tremendous and allows us to provide funds for youth programs and much more to help preserve the wild turkey and hunting lands.”

A raffle is being held by the club to generate funds for programs that are supported. A limited number of tickets are being sold and more information is available by calling Dwaine Scheetz at 740-622-9063 or email: dwaine@smipetro.com. Part of the purchase of a ticket will be for a one-year membership in the NWTF.
