Archie Blaine Cheney
COSHOCTON – Archie Blaine Cheney, age 80, of Coshocton, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017.
Archie was born in Coshocton on June 22, 1937 to the late Homer Sr. and Ella (Miller) Cheney. Archie started his first job at the age of 15 working for Carnation Milk. For 37 ½ years, until retirement, he was employed at Clow’s, working in the store room and as a first aid man. On January 19, 1957, Archie married the love of his life, Dee (Passmore) Cheney, who survives. Archie was a very hard worker and took pride in is work. He was a member of the Church of Christ and also of the United Steel Workers union. He enjoyed going on rides and travelling with, his wife, son, and dog, Buddy, when he could. Archie was a great provider for his family and was extremely proud of his siblings and his children.
Along with his wife, Archie is survived by his three children: Denise (Thomas “Tab”) Bankes, Patricia “Patti” Bibb-Cheney, and Shawn Philip Cheney; three grandchildren: Brice (Amber) Lonsinger, Ty William McElroy, and Logan Blaine McElroy; one sister, Lynda Slagle, many nieces and nephews, his beloved dog, Buddy, and lifelong friend, Buster Levallin Carns.
Along with his friends, Archie is preceded in death, by five siblings: Doris Evulich, Homer “Buddy” Cheney, Jr., Johnny Cheney, Judy Tubbs, and Chuck “Charles” Cheney.
Calling hours will be held at the Church of Christ on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. A memorial service for Archie will be at the church on Friday at 2 p.m. with Lloyd Tenney officiating. Per Archie’s request, a cremation will take place and a private burial will take place at a later date.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to the staff of Coshocton Regional Medical Center for taking care of Archie is his last days.
