Ark Salon & Spa celebrates opening with ribbon cutting
The Ark Salon & Spa celebrated the opening of its new studio located at 623 S. Second St. with a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 22.
“Ark is a synonym for retreat, and I wanted to offer a relaxing spa atmosphere,” said owner Amanda Hupp. “I started looking for commercial property for a boutique, stumbled upon this salon and everything just fell into place. I knew I wanted enough space to expand my services and my team, and that’s what I found at this location. I’m excited to be in a small tight knit community.”
Originally from Southern Perry County in the Newark area she said, “I was in the dental field and I have a background in cosmetology as well. Beauty has been my dream and passion, so I am happy to be doing this now.”
The business formerly known as Simply Beautiful Nails owned by Jennifer Crawford, has expanded to offer hair and skin care as well. Services include facials, dermaplaning (which no one else offers), facial waxing, lash lifts and tints and lash extensions as well as nails and pedicures using Gel, Gel-X and Apres. They also offer haircuts, coloring and Brazilian Blowouts; a keratin treatment that smooths the hair by creating a protective protein layer around the hair shaft to eliminate frizz and seal the cuticle.
Services are by appointment only, no walk ins. Currently there are three technicians, and they are looking for more licensed technicians. Eventually plans are to have massages, microblading, spray tans, and a boutique with clothing, jewelry and hair care and skin care products for purchase.
“Life is a journey and I am certain the Ark Salon & Spa will have a successful journey,” said Crawford who is now a partner in the business. Brad Haines is a silent partner as well.
“We are excited to have new business owners that provide different services. Any new business is good business. Welcome to our city,” said Mayor Mark Mills.
