Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember
While there is some dispute, credit is widely given to Union General John A. Logan for founding the holiday that we now recognize as Memorial Day. Meant to honor the fallen soldiers of the Civil War, General Logan set May 30, 1868, as the day to decorate the graves of the Civil War soldiers who […]
A time to wind down and a time to wind it up
The long school year of 2020-2021 is coming to a close. Can we please take a moment to thank all of our teachers, administrators, coaches, maintenance crews, bus drivers, janitors, cooks, and all of those that worked and endured through the frustration of the COVID-19 pandemic. These folks go to work each day to ensure […]
Rain, rain, go away, everyone wants to get out and plant!
That was a sufficient amount of rain to last us for a week or two, I believe. We need the fields to dry out to ensure that the crops (and gardens) get planted. The cooler temperatures are surely not “May like” with this morning (Monday) at a balmy 39 degrees in our part of the […]
Hoping and believing that we learned from COVID-19 experience

We’re already one third of the way into the year as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. We are making progress as the economy rolls along and more people get vaccinated. Try buying a […]
It’s bustin’ out crazy all over the place
Like dandelions and weeds in the springtime, growth is going nuts. After a year of being sequestered and “on hold” many businesses and industries are swimming in success. The supply and demand curve is out of whack with many vendors two and three months behind on orders. It was reported that the Chinese economy grew […]
Can we define a ‘back to normal’ world?
Here’s hoping that everyone had a Happy Easter and enjoyed, perhaps, more of a family get together than last year. Typically, I review the papers from the year before to make sure we are not missing a community event or happening that we should be aware of. As I flipped through the pages of the […]
There is still time to bid on items in the chamber auction
As I was cramming another mouthful of that ever so special Western treat into my mouth this morning (that would be cereal!) I thought about all of the cereals I have enjoyed over the years. Many of them are familiar to everyone, Rice Krispies, Cheerios, Wheaties, Life, and so on and so forth. But growing […]
