Bakersville Homecoming to include chicken barbecue only

| July 30, 2020

Due to the recent COVID-19 mandates the Bakersville Homecoming Antique Tractor Pull has been canceled. However, the chicken barbecue will still take place on Friday, Aug. 7.

“For the first time in 70 years, tractors will not be pulling at Bakersville,” said Larry Stahl, event organizer. “I am so sad about this for so many reasons. This is such a community event. Many people look forward to this all year long. The youth really liked our pull as there is no age limit, many pullers started at Bakersville. The support has been overwhelming. This would have been our biggest pull ever.”

Those who would still like to support the Bakersville Volunteer Fire Department are encouraged to attend the drive-thru chicken dinner. The fire department will be serving 800 halves of barbecue chicken. No sides will be served. The meal is drive thru carry out only. Serving starts at 4 p.m.

All proceeds go to benefit the Bakersville Volunteer Fire Department and the Bakersville Community Park.
