BPW announces annual cake auction plans

| October 11, 2024

The Coshocton Business and Professional Women’s annual cake auction will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Frontier Power Community Room at 770 S. Second St. in Coshocton. Cake viewing and voting will be from 2-4 p.m. and the auction will begin at 4 p.m. The theme this year is favorite holiday.

Several awards will be handed out. These include people’s choice, most unusual and kids choice. The winning cakes will be auctioned off first. Many of the cakes will include incentives from the group that donated the cake. For example, Kraft is adding 100 pounds of bacon as an incentive to bid on their cake.

Cakes should be covered with clear plastic and can be dropped off at the community room on Friday, Nov. 1 from 5-7 p.m. or Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration forms are due by Sunday, Oct. 20, but the BPW will accept cakes past that date.

There will be a kids baking contest. Parents are encouraged to help their children create a masterpiece to enter. The public will choose the winner and that child will receive a trophy.

The BPW is also looking for sponsors for the cake auction. Sponsors will get recognized locally through the media and in the program at the cake auction. All proceeds from the cake auction will go to support the community. The BPW gives at least one Joan McNeely Working Woman Scholarship of $1,000 and another to a graduating senior member of the River View Nike Club. Dollars for Scholars and First Step Family Violence Center also receive funds from the group.

The BPW also sends two young ladies to Buckeye Girls State, donates to the Salvation Army Christmas Tree project and to the backpacks for kids project through the Coshocton Regional Medical Center.
