Bridge project set for completion in mid-August
COSHOCTON – According to Morgan Overbey, public information officer for ODOT District Five, the plan for the State Route 16 / State Route 541 project going into the winter was to get lighting and signals operational on SR 541 and have all lanes of traffic/ramps open. However, there have been some delays due to electrical work and getting the lanes striped this winter will be weather dependent.
“Even if this happens, it will only be completely open until the spring when the bridge painters come in to paint the Three Rivers Bridge,” Overbey said. “At that point, the road will have to be placed in the current configuration so that the painters have lanes to work from.”
State Route 16 will remain in its current configuration through the winter (one lane in each direction). Surface asphalt will be placed in the spring and at that time all lanes will be opened to traffic. There is also some concrete pavement planning to be done at the intersection of US 36 and SR16.
“Other than that, next season will be incidentals, clean-up and punch list work,” Overbey said. “Currently, the project is to be completed by mid-August 2020.”
