Cardinal Chorale to sing with community choir
The 26th edition of the Cardinal Chorale will be in Coshocton for a Winter Pops Concert with special guests, the Coshocton Community Choir. The concert will be Sunday, Feb. 20, at 3 p.m. at the new home of the Coshocton Community Choir – Grace United Methodist Church, 422 Walnut St. in Coshocton.
The chorale will also sing several anthems at Grace’s 10 a.m. worship service that morning.
The chorale’s 60-minute program will feature selections from their 2021 show, “Let There Be Music!” The chorale’s last performance before the pandemic was the 2020 Winter Pops Concert. After 762 days, the chorale is excited to bring music to Coshocton County again. In recent months, the chorale’s mission of being “Choral Ambassadors of Hope” has become even more important.
Organized in the summer of 1995 by its conductor, Charles R. Snyder, the Cardinal Chorale is a select 40-voice traveling ensemble of high school and college singers. In its 26 year history, the chorale has been invited to sing for a number of professional conferences and has performed on the campuses of Capital University, Muskingum University, Kent State University, Ohio University, and Penn State University. The chorale has also sung for a number of state celebrations including the rededication of the Ohio Statehouse, and the state’s Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration in Columbus.
Local members of the current chorale include: Hope Asbury, Alexis Caley, Sam Corbett, Olivia Crouso, Josie Fornara, Dawson Ford, Ryan Gildow, Hunter Gonter, Julia Grimmett, Everett Hall, Grace Hawthorne, Jacob Heading, Sarah Heading, Lauren Johnson, Dakota Kealiher, Kennedy Kittell, Anna Richcreek, Kailyn Shalosky, John Stamper, Aidan Stevens-Woolery, Connor Stevens-Woolery, Liam Stevens-Woolery, Sydney Stewart, Sheldon Stotts, and Quinn Wherley.
There is no admission charge for the concert, but an offering will be received to help cover the weekend’s expenses and to further their mission work. Recognizing the number of COVID cases in the state, the chorale will wear masks and encourages the audience to do likewise.
