Career center students learn from photography judging

| September 29, 2023
For the past six years Angela Wright, business and medical office technologies instructor at the Coshocton County Career Center has been bringing her students to the photography judging at the Coshocton County Fair. She feels hearing the judges comments on their pictures they entered helps reinforce the concepts she teaches them in the classroom.
Wright teaches a small unit on digital photography to her students. Photography skills are important in the business world whether the students go into marketing or become an entrepreneur and start their own photography business. Students take pictures at home and around the school. She also takes them to Clary Gardens, Roscoe Village, and Lake Park. The students then entered their pictures at the Coshocton County Fair.
Wright feels photography allows her students to express themselves in a creative way. She has seen it boost their self-esteem. It is also good for their mental health as it is a great way to distract them from the burdens of everyday life. It also teaches them patience, to pay attention to detail, and to think creatively.
This was the first year Wright has had a student win best of show in the junior division. Parker White, a senior in the business and medical office technologies (BMOT) program won best of show with the picture from class 23 color division flowers.
