Chalk the Walk contest to be held downtown
COSHOCTON – Our Town Coshocton will kick off its First Friday Celebrations this Friday with a new addition to their First Friday Celebration, Chalk the Walk.
The Chalk the Walk Contest encourages artists of all ages to produce pieces of art within assigned approximate 5 foot by 6 foot spaces. Judges provided by The Pomerene Center for The Arts will then judge the works of art and prizes will be awarded. There will be separate categories for those under 14 years of age, 14 years to 18 years of age, and those over the age of 18. For the non-competitive tiny budding artists, Our Town Coshocton will also provide an area at First Friday where smaller children can also join in on the fun.
Chalk the Walk will take place along Main Street on the sidewalks in front of empty storefronts in the 400 block of Main Street. The artists spaces will be blocked off with ample room for onlookers, pedestrian foot traffic, and handicap accessibility.
Chalk the Walk registration will take place at the Our Town Coshocton tent on Fourth Street during the May 6 First Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m. Judging will take place at 6:30 p.m. Participants may bring their own supplies, or; they may purchase a box of 30 pieces of chalk at the registration tent for $5, while supplies last. There is no fee to enter the contest.
