Charlotte (McKnight) Ramey

| May 16, 2022

Charlotte (McKnight) Ramey went to her heavenly home on May 14, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. She was a beloved wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Charlotte was born to Wilbur and Nadine (Westfall) McKnight on August 22,1945.

She is survived by her mother Nadine, aged 103. Charlotte spent her formative years in Coshocton, Ohio, with her mother and father in building The Coshocton Church of God. Throughout her life she maintained a deep love of the lord and shared that love with all who knew her. Charlotte, and her husband Ed Ramey, both have stayed connected to the church, serving on its board and regularly singing and playing music at service. Charlotte and Ed have built strong friendships with its parishioners and were married at that church 11 years ago on April 15, 2011. Charlotte was very musical, constantly singing, playing instruments: piano, organ, or accordion. She was most happy when singing or listening to gospel music, her children and grandchildren fondly remember her deep and abiding love of The Gaither’s and her love for singing at every family gathering. Charlotte raised her five children in Dresden, Ohio with her first husband Kenneth Krebs, who is deceased. Her children remember her deep love of her grandchildren, and trips to the Amish Country as a family.

Charlotte is survived by all her children: Kristi Krebs, Kendra (Francisco) Vincenty, Kenneth Krebs, Jr. (Jennifer Blue), Stephanie Collinsworth, and Heather Krebs. Charlotte most treasured her role as Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Grandmer to: Benjamin (Lauren) Oh, Kristen (Ryan Oelker), Nicolas and Elena Vincenty, Kaleb, Knox, and Kenzie Krebs, Brooke, Mikaela, and Joshua Collinsworth. All her grandkids can attest that “what happened at Grandma’s house, stayed at Grandma’s house”. Which normally included such atrocities as snacks at all hours of the day, never eating what your parents wanted, and frequent trips to procure more candy! Charlotte will be missed by her brother Ronald (Lina) McKnight.

Charlotte was known and loved by many in the community of Coshocton, as well as through her many jobs. One of her first jobs was a radio announcer, going by “Charlie K” on the airwaves. Throughout her lifetime she worked at Coughlin Chevrolet of Newark, Ohio, Coconis Furniture, and Kroger Pharmacy. No job was as treasured as that of the matriarch of the family.

She effortlessly hosted events, for which she cleaned to the baseboards of her home, always with Murphy’s Oil Soap. She loved to decorate for every holiday, leaving Christmas trees up in her home year-round with seasonal decorations. She also loved gardening and could frequently be found outdoors. Charlotte’s joy for life, laughter, and warm hugs will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to The James, Ohio State University, Cancer Strategic Support Fund: PO Box 710811, Columbus, OH 43271.

A celebration of life, filled with music and memory will be held Sunday, May 29th at 2:00 pm at The Coshocton Church of God, 703 S. 2nd Street, Coshocton, Ohio 43812.

Charlotte would love for memories to be shared and all to sing loud.

Charlotte will be laid to rest at Smith’s Chapel in Newark, near her father and other family members. Charlotte left her family with her favorite Psalm 121: “I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help. My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”

The Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, Coshocton is serving the family, an online memorial is located at www.themillerfuneralhome.com.
