Christians invited to gather in prayer prior to election
Christians in Coshocton County are setting aside the days before the 2020 Presidential Election to be in prayer. They will be seeking the guidance of God for our community, our state and our nation.
Christians have always been people of prayer – open communication between themselves and God. But throughout 2020, many Christians have been calling one another together for prayer, as the nation and the world faces unprecedented crises.
According to a passage of scripture, “Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.” Romans 13:1 (New Living Translation)
They believe it is a privilege and a blessing to be a citizen of the United States of America. This blessing is also an obligation to vote as God leads each person.
On Sunday evening, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. Christians will gather at the Coshocton Christian Tabernacle, the TAB, 23891 Airport Road, Coshocton. The prayer service will be focused on Jesus’ prayer in the New Testament “God’s Kingdom Come to Earth.” This is a reference to the words He taught His disciples to pray.
This Nov. 1 several area pastors and church leaders will be praying for the issues confronting our nation:
- Prayer for our nation to turn from sin and turn to God.
- Prayer for all Christians to be empowered for spiritual warfare.
- Prayer for the revival of God’s people to faith and action proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ.
- Prayer for the Church to have a spirit of courage to rise up fulfilling God’s purposes in our nation.
- Prayer for the media that truth be an established standard in our news media and Christianity will receive fair coverage in all reports.
- Prayer for the election process that voters would have godly wisdom and that the Lord halts those who might try to unjustly and illegally change the outcome of the voting.
- Prayer for the candidates and leaders of our nation to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ and to focus on the issues we face as a nation.
There are numerous pastors in the community meeting each week to pray for the people, businesses, governing bodies and the churches throughout the county.
A second time of prayer will be on Monday, Nov. 2, 2020. Solid Rock Foursquare Church located at 46160 CR 55 (Hill St.) Coshocton, Ohio will be open from noon to 6 p.m.
It is noted that this is an open time for people to come and pray. There is no formal service, but people are invited to take a seat in the church reflecting on the names of God, His power, and His authority in all things.
The unique challenges of everyday life find Christians seeking the wisdom and power of God. In 2020 the church is coming together as one body to seek God’s direction, courage and power.
