COSHOCTON – Coshocton High School sophomore Lucian Brink’s successful wrestling season was officially honored by Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.

“This is super and it brings attention to the sport and Coshocton wrestling,” Brink said.

Bob Kalish from Husted’s office stopped by CHS on April 18 to deliver a certificate of commendation to Brink. The document congratulated him on his state runner-up finish in the 2018 Ohio High School Athletic Association Wrestling Tournament Division III, 106 Weight Class and was presented to him in front of his parents and coach.

“We are proud of his accomplishments,” said Susanna Brink, Lucian’s mother.

His father, Shawn Brink, added that Lucian worked very hard during the offseason and throughout the season.

“We didn’t expect this (his finish at state), but we knew it could happen,” Shawn said. “Ever since biddy wrestling he’s gotten certificates and awards, but this is special.”

Lucian is coached by Sean Collins.

“As a coach you see how hard they work for their accomplishments so it’s good to see someone else recognizing that,” Collins said.

Before presenting the commendation to Lucian, Kalish asked him about his goals. Lucian shared that he wants to return to state and continue his education at The Ohio State University.

“It’s good to have goals,” Kalish said. “Good luck with yours.”
