The Coshocton community of faith was invited for an evening of celebration and praise on Nov. 16 at The Presbyterian Church of Coshocton. The service entitled, Thanks Living Celebration, delivered an evening of singing together, worshiping together, praying together.
A contemporary praise band and a traditional choir came together, with scripture readings for an evening of peaceful praise and reflection on all that is good in this community and reminded everyone of all we have to be thankful for. The congregation sang, “Come ye Thankful People Come” and “Give Thanks” with organist Alice Hoover.
This service was planned by six different congregations. Solid Rock Foursquare Church with Rev. Larry Massie provided praise and Thanksgiving scripture and contemporary Christian music along with The Solid Rock Praise Team. Rev. Deb Quillen and the choir from Grace United Methodist Church sang “In This Very Room” and “Enter His Gates With Thanksgiving.” Rev. Joe Sanders, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Pastor Mike Jansen of Coshocton Christian Tabernacle and Rev, Brian Kittner from Emmanuel Lutheran Church and members of various churches participated in the evening of praise and worship.
Rev. Stew Royce the pastor of Central Christian Church gave the word from Deuteronomy 8:10-18 reminding people not to become too proud and forget the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.
“Isn’t it true that Jesus is in this very room right now?” Rev. Quillen said. “We hope you will leave here filled as we celebrate and give thanks to God for all good things. We’re becoming family around here. Colossians 3:15-17 says Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
