Community band plans for summer concert series
Trish Girard, president of Coshocton County Community Band, has announced plans for the 2023 summer concert series on the court square.
Returning as director for the 15th year is Christie Cochran. The season’s first performance is scheduled for Friday, June 2, at 7 p.m. The concert series continues Friday, June 16, 30, July 14 and 28, Aug. 11, with all performances beginning at 7 p.m. on the court square lawn facing Fourth Street.
According to Girard, “This summer we will be bringing not only our classics and marches that are fan favorites, but also playing various new pieces of music. Each concert will offer a featured theme. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket, relax, and enjoy an evening of music and fun.” In addition to the music, the Pomerene Center for the Arts will also be coordinating activities at the Art Park.
The Coshocton Community Band is a multi-generational experience with players ranging in age from high school students to retired individuals. All musicians, no matter the playing level, are encouraged to join. Practices are held on Tuesday nights at Kids America from 6:30-8 p.m.
Girard said, “We are so grateful to Kids America and staff for letting us have a place to practice each week and I am sure the players on the courts enjoy listening to us play while they play.”
In the event of rain, any necessary cancellations will be broadcast on WTNS 99.3.
Anyone wanting more information is encouraged to call and leave a message for Girard at 740-575-1228.
