Community works together to help hospice patient
COSHOCTON – Sheri Sharier likes to make wishes come true.
“I’m the quality of life director at Signature HealthCARE and if I hear a wish or something our elders (residents) would like I try to make sure it happens,” she said.
While talking with one of their ladies who is on hospice, Sharier discovered that she used to drink Schlitz Beer and wanted to have one again.
Sharier called and went everywhere in town looking for this beer, but no one carried it.
“It wasn’t even at the state store or any of the bars in town,” she said.
The Beer Dock, however, ended up surprising Sharier with the beer after doing some research of its own.
“I just told them my story,” she said. “I didn’t know they were calling around on their own. I was so pleased they went above and beyond and found someone who carried it.”
The Beer Dock made connections with its regular delivery guy who then made connections with his sister, who stocked the Schlitz Beer. Their delivery guy delivered the Schlitz Beer from Fostoria, Ohio to Coshocton and the Beer Dock donated the six pack to Sharier who brought it back to Signature HealthCARE.
“Our elder (resident) smiled ear to ear when we gave it to her,” Sharier said. “I have to say thank you very much to the Beer Dock from all of us at Signature and our elder.”
