Coshocton Community Band excited for summer concerts
For more than 51 years, the Coshocton Community Band has been providing concerts every summer. The band has an amazing concert line-up ready to share with the community this summer.
This is Trish Girard’s 26th season with the community band as a percussionist. “We have members who are in high school all the way up to our awesome older generation,” she said.
Girard believes the community band is important for Coshocton because it brings everyone together “with the celebration of music, but it also showcases musicians of all ages and playing levels.”
“I get to play with a group of awesome people who can put up with my shenanigans and just do something I love, which is playing music,” Girard said. “It’s a great stress reliever for me. We have a blast. This season, we will be featuring some TV theme songs and one of them is SpongeBob so I’m excited for that. Last year, we did a Lady Gaga song. You never know what we’ll come up with.”
The band is always looking for new members. “Doesn’t matter how long it has been since you played,” Girard said. “Come and join the fun anytime.”
The community band practices at Kids America on Tuesday nights from 6:20 – 8 p.m. during the months of April until the first or second week in August.
The concert series began on May 31 with a concert themed “How’s the Weather.” The rest of the dates are June 14 “March Madness,” June 28 “Red, White and Blue,” July 12 “The Great Outdoors,” July 26 “The Wild, Wild West,” and Aug. 9 “TV Shows.” All concerts begin at 7 p.m. on the court square. Please bring lawn chairs.
