Coshocton County Library System closed Feb. 12

| February 9, 2024

It is with heartfelt sympathy that the Coshocton County District Library shares the news of the sudden passing of beloved team member Janice Sycks due to a medical emergency.

To allow staff time to process this news and to attend funeral arrangements, the library system will be closed on Monday, Feb. 12. All youth programming is cancelled through Feb. 16.

Sycks’ library career began in 2013 as a page shelving books and transporting materials between the main and branch libraries. Her work ethic, customer service skills, and ambition led her to work her way to becoming page supervisor and youth services coordinator. Many people would recognize Sycks as the face behind the children’s desk, the teacher of Lapsit, and the staff member at many other programs. Her decorations in the children’s room often drew compliments from those visiting the space. She prepared StoryWalk books and visited preschools, daycares, and other schools throughout the county each month. Sycks made many contributions to the library on a daily basis and her presence will be missed.
