Coshocton County Memorial Day Schedule

COSHOCTON COUNTY – Have Memorial Day plans yet? Here is a list of what is going on in the county.

The Coshocton Senior Center will have a Memorial Day celebration on Friday, May 25. Root beer floats, courtesy of Signature HealthCARE will be provided with lunch. Memorial Day tributes will be available during the month of May for a donation. Stop at the front desk for a tribute form to remember your loved one.

The 136th annual Keene Veterans Memorial Celebration will be Sunday, May 27. A veteran’s memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. at Keene United Methodist Church. Guest speaker will be Larry Tumblin of Zanesville. The Keene UMC Relay for Life Team will serve lunch from 10:30 a.m. until noon. A Veterans Memorial Parade will start at noon and will be led by the Grand Marshal, Lister Endsley.

Conesville Memorial Services will be Sunday, May 27 at 12:15 p.m. at the park. Community members will read the names of area veterans listed on the memorial wall.

Honoring Armed Forces at Plainfield will be Sunday, May 27 at 2 p.m. Weather permitting, services will be at Plainfield Cemetery; in case of inclement weather, services will be at the Plainfield United Methodist Church. The guest speaker will be Denny Blandford, retired teacher and administrator from River View School District. The Ridgewood Marching Generals Band, High School Choir and the Plainfield United Methodist Church Choir will participate. Members of the Armed Forces will be honored as well as those from the community who have passed away in the past year. Coshocton County Honor Guard will assist in honoring service personnel and several other members from the community will be assisting in the service.

Blissfield Services will be Sunday, May 27 at 2 p.m. at Blissfield Cemetery. The keynote speaker will be Richard L. Guess, United States Air Force Vietnam Veteran. The Walhonding Rube Band will provide music. In case of inclement weather, the services will be at the Blissfield United Methodist Church.

The City of Coshocton will celebrate Memorial Day on Monday, May 28. A parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Main Street, followed by a service on the court square at 11 a.m. Coshocton Mayor Steve Mercer will be the guest speaker. Names of veterans will be read and a memorial wreath will be laid. The public is invited to attend.

Walhonding Valley Warsaw parade and services will be held on Monday, Mav 28 at 1 p.m. The parade will assemble on Railroad Street then continue on Main Street in Warsaw and services will immediately follow at Valley View Cemetery with speakers Isabella Heddleson, Voice of Democracy and Jon Husted, Ohio Air National Guard Vietnam Veteran. Annie Bosson and Josie Fomara will sing the National Anthem as well as music provided by the Walhonding Rube Band.
