COSHOCTON — Look to the skies as more than 20 hot air balloons take flight over the rolling hills of Coshocton County. The Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival, sponsored by Frontier Power, is one of the longest continuously-running hot air balloon festivals in Ohio. This year marks the 38th year for this free event, which will be held Thursday, June 6 through Saturday, June 8, at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds, 707 Kenilworth Ave., Coshocton. Admission, parking, and entertainment are free. The midway features kiddie rides, fair food, vendors and an antique flea market.

Tethered balloon rides in the Frontier Power Touchstone balloon are scheduled for Thursday, June 6 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday, June 8 from 6:30 – 8:30 a.m. for $20 per person. All proceeds benefit the Frontier Power Community Connections Fund, which awards grants to community groups. Plan to arrive early and get a spot in line, as reservations will not be accepted. Details are available at CoshoctonHotAirBalloonFestival.com.

The Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival opens Thursday at 4 p.m. with a wristband ride special for the kiddie rides, crowning of the 2019 Balloon Queen, and a three balloon launch.

On Friday night, all of the balloons launch from the infield at 6:45 p.m., creating a spectacular sight as the skies are filled with color. Country music star Bryan Lewis takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Once the sun goes down, watch as the balloons inflate on the field for the very popular “Balloon Night Glow” at 9:15 p.m.

Saturday’s activities include more fun for the whole family with COSI on Wheels, Touch-a-Truck, and the MOJO Jeep invasion. A second mass launch is scheduled at 6:45 p.m., followed by live musical entertainment in the grandstand. A fantastic musical fireworks show, sponsored by Central Ohio Technical College, will begin at 9:45 p.m.

All activities at the 2019 Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival are weather-permitting. No balloons will fly during the day. All launches are scheduled in the evenings.
