Coshocton Tree Commission gives update
The Coshocton Tree Commission received three new tree concerns. There is an old Sycamore at South Fifth Street and Mulberry that is leaning over the street. After discussion it was decided the tree should be removed. A tree at 904 South Sixth St. should be looked at for possible trimming and some older trees on the 100 block of South 10th Street should be looked at for possible removal.
Upcoming plantings along the 1400, 1600, and 1700 blocks of Chestnut Street were discussed. A September planting is scheduled for the south side of this area. Grant applications will be sought for the 16 trees for this project.
Trees on South Seventh Street were trimmed a few months ago and a looking good. Recently planted trees will be trimmed along North Second Street, Locust Street, and along North Third Street by the bank. A variety of trees that were planted at Hall Park are becoming established and growing nicely.
Arbor Day is Friday, April 28. To help celebrate this day and inform students, The Tree Commission and Deb Bigelow, from Soil and Water, will meet with the sixth graders at Coshocton Elementary on Thursday, April 27 for a short presentation. Representatives from the class will help plant a tree at the school.
If you have any tree concerns, call Angie Williamson at 740-622-2686. She is with the street department and will pass concerns on to the tree commission. Tree commission members are Greg Brady, Tom Heading, Tom Kistler, Jim Marcantile, and Connie Miller.
