| November 16, 2022

Jalynn West, daughter of Jennifer and Eric Bickle and Rich West of Coshocton signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Division II Slippery Rock University. Slippery Rock is part of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

Jalynn is a four year letter winner at Coshocton High School. She was named First Team MVL three times, Honorable Mention All Ohio her junior year, Second Team All-Ohio as a senior, named MVP twice, and she led the team in aces, assist and blocks all four years. She is the first Coshocton player to play in the All-Ohio All-Star game and was WTNS player of the game 15 times. She is a member of the Key Club, Varsity C for three years and has been a COTC student for two years.

Jalynn started varsity her freshman year. “That was the greatest opportunity that ever happened to me because I didn’t want to be a setter but I knew I wanted to be on varsity,” she said. “I took on the role to be on varsity and it was the best decision I have ever made. I have done a lot of things here in Coshocton that I am proud of. I have broken three records, I am known as the most decorated and that is exciting for me to say.  The recruiting process was very exciting too. I’m going to Slippery Rock University  to major in athletic communications. My dream job is to be an ESPN sideline reporter and I would like to meet Joe Burrow. Being at Coshocton was probably the best decision I ever made because I started at River View and I’m happy I got to finish here.”

Coshocton head coach Cari Bahmer said, “I couldn’t be more proud of Jalynn. She has worked so hard for four years. She is going to be a great addition to Slippery Rock. They are very lucky to have her and I know she  is going to be very successful and make just as much of a mark as she did here in Coshocton.”

Athletic Director Kevin Yoder said, “We are very proud of Jaylnn West’s accomplishments as a student athlete and leader at Coshocton High School. Her success on the volleyball court is a direct result of her hard work and dedication to volleyball. She has demonstrated outstanding leadership both in the classroom and on the court throughout her career at Coshocton. We are going to miss her when she graduates but wish her great success at Slippery Rock University.”

Eric Bickel said, “This is just icing on the cake for all the hard work that she has put into getting her play out there to colleges. It’s been a long experience and having Coach Lowe from Slippery Rock reaching out and giving her that exposure is great. We couldn’t be more proud of what she has accomplished.  All the hard work that she has put in for five years. We’re excited for the new opportunity to go watch Jalynn play at Slippery Rock. Our other daughter is just finishing at Wheeling. So as one ends we’re going to start a new chapter with Jaylynn. We are very excited.”

Jennifer Bickle said, “It’s been a pleasure to watch her grow and and fall in love with the sport as her mom and as her coach. I’ve coached her for six years and we set a goal a long time ago to play at the collegiate  level. We have spent numerous hours, tears and conversations preparing her for this. I couldn’t be more proud of her.”
